"Through my magic, all things happen!"
The God
What is the God in the "Pranja Tradition"
I guess it is important that if you have a "way" or "tradition" of Wicca that you follow, you should at least have a defined way of approaching it. Right? In Goddess Keep we have a few things that make our tradition "stand alone". Not above all the others mind you, just unique and unto its self. One of those ways is how we view the God and the Goddess. Their aspects, phases during the changing year and how we "Work" and "Recognize" them during the month and year in present time. The following is the way Pranja tradition looks at the God.
He is the presence of protection and the deliver of freedom from persecution. To us, he is the builder of the wheel of the year, and every time the year changes he is called upon by the Goddess to turn it. He is the "Lord of Light". The Sun God. He is the Lord of the wilds, the watcher over the face of the earth and all the animals upon it. He is best known as the "Dark Lord" or the "Oak King" or "Holly King". We too call him these names and many more throughout the year.
In Pranja tradition and in the phase of the "Dark Lord" he is the receiver of the dead at their time of dying and he delivers the Souls to the "Summerland" to let them reflect upon their life that has just past, as well he washes and makes them new again for the eventual return of the soul to a new body. (And so the cycle of life continues until all things are learned) Because our tradition was founded on the premise of "best balance obtainable" our God too is "threefold" as is the Goddess. For the Goddess, Wiccans, not all but most view her in three aspects, Maiden, Mother and Crone. Well here we have the "three aspects" of the God. Son, Lover and Sage.
Son:
In this aspect he is the young Lord of the new year. Fresh, wild and untamed. He is the hunter of the spirit within you to embark upon new things in your life. To the wheel of the year he is the energetic hard work or labor upon the land and of the Wiccan in his/her actions in everyday life. As the days grow longer and hotter so does his energy make itself known to the follower. The promise of time with family and friends out in the great outdoors is his flavor upon the Wiccan brow of sweat.
He is found most in the passion and excitement you share in every endeavor and every one you embrace with vigor. He too is the Male climax, raw and uninhibited, vibrant and animalistic. (You might have been called this after the love encounter...."You animal" I rest my case) Look to him for strength every time you start a new adventure or take on a new task that you might think is overwhelming. He will deliver you to the journey's task with confidence and vigor.
Lover:
In this aspect he is the mature adolescent God. Full of emotion and never-tiring strength upon the land and in your work tasks you undertake. He is the motivator that pushes you to aspire for the greatest gift of life...LOVE. He is the pursuer within you to try again to get out of life what you want. If you want it bad enough. He is the burning feeling inside all of us to procreate the world and carry on the species.
This is difficult of him to deal with sometimes for the drive is strong in everyone yet it warrants personal control and discipline at any age, because through control comes success in the end and true love. In him is the bind of all life to extend the race of humanity and so too is his drive. You will feel him in your creative works of poetry and songs. He is the source of energy in matters of the heart be it lover or family. Work with him in everything you do that touches your heart.
Sage:
This is the aspect he is most seen or spoke of. In this aspect he is the maturation of spirit and wisdom. His purpose is fully known here. He is the reaper of the sick and dying for his purpose is to comfort, teach, reflect and give protection from harm. He adorns the full rack of the winter buck at this time of darkness. As the Lord of shadows he is now to be the keeper of the things you have yet to know, and yet are still willing to learn. This is the "free will" of the Wiccan at its peak phase. Willing to venture off into the darkness on the unknowing is as being afraid of dying. It is this lesson too he teaches his followers at the time of calling.
His seed is not sterile now just reserved and controlled. He now delivers the knowledge one seeks in times of needed action and change. He is the "Lock smith" of magic and learns the Wiccan in "unlocking" the mysteries of the Goddess. He is to the Goddess, the prepare of the Summerland and the promise of the coming New Year. Yet, in his deepest state, he in the eternal sacrifice. To make room for new growth sometimes we must get rid of old ways of thinking and past ways of doing things to foster space in our lives for new ones. In the time of the Fall Equinox he gives of his life most willingly for the spirit to grow and learn and for the new Lord of life and shadow to be reincarnated.
It is this action that we as Wiccans give faith to the belief and acceptance of reincarnation for our Lord does this each and every season of every cycle of the year.
ULTIMATELY YOU MUST REMEMBER THAT IN THIS TRADITION, OUR GOD IS THE WEAVER OF MAGIC AND THE TEACHER OF "HOW" IT IS TO BE DONE IN ORDER TO ARRIVE AT THE ENDS OF OUR WISHES. THE GODDESS DELIVERS THE MYSTERIES TO BE EXPLORED IN OUR LIVES AND DAILY EVENTS AND THE GOD HELPS US EXPLORE THOSE MYSTERIES THROUGH ACTS OF MAGIC AND RITUAL. THIS MANNER OF LOOKING AT THE GOD WORKS WELL FOR OUR TRADITION FOR THIS WILL TEACH THE WICCAN "WHAT TO DO" ABOUT OUR LIFE HAPPENINGS RATHER THAN GUESS OR JUST ROUTINELY WISH THE EARTH GOOD WILL, OUR GODS HAVE A WAY TO LEARN US IN ACTIONS AND COMMITMENTS.
"MAGIC AND PREYER ARE ONE AND THE SAME. THEY BOTH SEEK TO CHANGE THAT WHICH IS CONSTANT"
