The Goddess

What is the Goddess in the "Pranja Tradition"

I guess it is important that if you have a "way" or "tradition" of Wicca that you follow, you should at least have a defined way of approaching it. Right? Well we do. In Goddess Keep we have a few things that make our tradition "stand alone". Not above all the others mind you, just unique and unto its self. One of those ways is how we view the God and the Goddess. Their aspects, phases of presents during the changing year and how we "Work" and "Recognize" them during the month and year in present time. The following is the way Pranja tradition looks to the Goddess.

She is the presence of inner self and the giver of your spirits thoughts. To us, she is the weaver of life itself, and every time the year changes she is the mystery that takes each and every one of us on our own personal journey through enlightenment. She is the "Lady of the Universe". The Moon Goddess. She is the Mother earth itself, and the awsome power of nature in all its glory...and fury. Depending on how you respect it.

She is best known as the "Great Mother" or the "Moon Goddess". We too call her these names and many more throughout the year. In Pranja tradition and in the phase of the "Crone" or "Wise Woman" she is the councelor of the dead at their time of dying and she delivers the first breath of life at birth and too, takes the last breath away at our time of passing. (And so the cycle of life continues until all things are learned)

Because our tradition was founded on the premise of "best balance obtainable" our Goddess is "threefold" as is the Goddess in almost all "Wiccan" based denominations. For the Goddess, Wiccans, not all but most view her in three aspects, Maiden, Mother and Crone. Well here we too have the "three aspects" and this is how thay are preseived in our tradition.

Maiden:

She is the spirit eternal of all new energy. In our tradition you will not find a more spunky, untamed, sexually vibrant power then the Maiden. She is the Priestess in training and her magic is smart yet can be misplaced. Look to her when you have so much to do and not enough time to do it. When you fail to plan things out, find her and learn to control your outbursts. She leads the Wiccan down the paths in life that are full of fun and yet too, are unexplored. When we are scared to commit to things she is the energy that pushes us onward and it always leads to success. Society calls her "woman's intuition" Men call her our "gut feeling" trust this power. Anything that can make your tummy turn over has got to be powerful.

Mother:

Mom. What more can be said. She is our spiritual mother of birth and life. When things go wrong in life allot of us run to or just want to "Call our mother" and we do. She embodies the inner wisdom of self preservation. She will tell you what to do even if you don't want to hear it. For the Wiccan, she is seen and felt when we see a woman with child. When we are held close by our biological mother or even in a state of security when we are held by those we love dearly.

You can tap her strength, for it is formidable, constant and never subsides. As the saying goes (don't ever mess with a mother bear's cubs.) She is best felt when we are at home and dinner is on the table. The house has wonderful smells of family and comfort. Inside you, she reminds you of your ethics and how to treat others as you too would want to be treated. She commands attention when we get out of control and prevents us from getting into trouble. Heed her feelings when danger is around because she wont let the Wiccan, that knows her, fall pray to it.

Crone:

As too with the Sage she fulfills the soul with utter inner wisdom. You can find her on the edge of your most hated decisions' that you KNOW you have to do but don't want to. She forces you to be "Smart" Her presents is felt mostly in "hard lessons" learned. For example, you drink to much and know that if you drive, you could get caught and go to jail and pay a heavy fine. She makes it worse by making you apart of an accident where someone is hurt or killed! She will not teach you the simple things. Her power is nothing to be ignored. Nor will she accept anything less.

So, is she something to be feared? No, just respected and recognized for what she is. She is your deepest conscience. Your feelings of guilt when you know you did the wrong thing. She too is the feeling of total pride in oneself when we have overtaken our worst endeavor and triumphed. In your most quietest moment, you can tap her power deep inside your mind. She communicates through our friends when they warn us of the outcome if we do a certain action, be it moral or otherwise.

In our tradition, in the dark half of the year, and after the Lord has gone to the Summerland at the Equinox, the Crone now is the protector of the Mother that is with child. Protecting the new Lord of light to be born at the Yule. The Crone's strength, wisdom and all knowing power never fades, because it is as endless as space and time.
